The mission of the Gonzales High School counseling program is to empower all students to reach their fullest potential by providing a comprehensive school counseling program to facilitate their academic, career, social, and emotional development. Collaboration and cooperation between counselors, students, faculty, administrators, parents, and the community will provide a safe and caring environment to assist all students in becoming responsible and productive lifelong learners.

Please complete this application to sign up for summer school.

  • The Date for Summer School will be June 17 - July 8.

    • No classes on June 20 & July 4

    • 2 sessions being offered, Morning & Afternoon, earn up to 10 credits, 5 in each session

Graduation Requirements

A-G / College Entrance Requirements

The A-G / College Entrance Requirements are a sequence of high school courses that students must complete (with a grade of C or better) to be minimally eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU). They represent the basic level of academic preparation that high school students should achieve to undertake university work.

History/Social Science



Two years, including one year of world history, cultures, and historical geography and one year of U.S. history or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of civics or American government. 





Four years of college preparatory English that includes frequent and regular writing, and reading of classic and modern literature.

Three years of college preparatory mathematics that includes the topics
covered in elementary and advanced algebra, and two- and three-dimensional geometry. 


Laboratory Science

2 (3 rec)


Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in at least two of these three disciplines: biology, chemistry, and physics.


Language Other Than English

2 (3 rec)

1 or Fine Arts

Two years of the same language other than English. 


Visual & Performing Arts


1 or For Lan

One year, including dance, drama/theater, music, or visual art.


College Preparatory Elective



One year (two semesters), chosen from additional “A-F” courses
beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above, or courses that
have been approved solely for use as “G” electives.
